Chewing behavior

Hi

My Isabella picks up anything and everything from the ground or the floor and she will chew on it and move it around her mouth, until she is discovered and then she will try her hardest to swallow before anyone can get to her. Does anyone else have this problem? Isabella has chewed on glass and most recently I found her with a piece of steel wool...I think she may have swallowed some of it. I am really worried about this behavior. Thankfully she has not been cut by the glass. Any feedback? Thanks.

My Bruno almost ate me out of house and home. Shoes, beads off the pillows, down pillows, Cigarretts, remote controls, widow panes, doorways, cat poop out of the litter box, buttons off my blouses, zippers - you name it, he would eat it. I was worried he was going to eat something and die. So I got a trainer. The trainer said he's bored. He needs toys - I thought I had plenty of toys, NOT SO, she said he needs at least 20 - 25 various interactive toys and you must rotate them so he doesn't get bored. Sure enough I got him interactive toys like Hide-A-Squirrel, Pull-Part-Vet, etc...and now he has so many toys that he doesn't eat things he's not suppose to - cause he has so many toys to entertain himself with. Hope this helps.

Isabella has so many toys that we have put many of them away...what good it does, cause everytime I leave the house I come back with more...in any case I will try the toys you suggested. Thanks.

Im no expert but maybe she likes chewing on hard or solid surfaces. Gunner has a tendancy to chew on anything soft and fluffy, so we try to buy him toys that match those types of surfaces. If she is still teething maybe you should try those baby teething toys that you put in the freezer.

Nylabone makes little really hard plastic toys that you can freeze. They are totally indestructible. Very very hard. Our little guy loves to chew on hard things as well, and this little nylabone fish has been great!

I know I am kind of late on this one but my female frenchie does this. She is almost 1 yr. She has ate two of my favorite earrings. The problem is when she gets it. She is so stubborn she locks her jaw and it is almost impossible to get it out of her mouth! She like stealing things like if you drop it too. We got her teething keys which she loves and lots of toys but she still likes to pick up random stuff or steal stuff.

Bruno locks his jaw too. Once he had a bottle cap in his mouth and I was positive he was going to choke on it. I tried prying his mouth open - and I couldn't. So, I blew gently in his nose. IMMEDIATELY - he dropped the bottle cap. TRY it in am emergency..

do you have a 'kong' for her?

Kongs are wonderful. Put a couple treats, or a bit of peanut butter in the kong and it will keep her busy for hours! Also, is she crate trained? Or, does she at least have a play pen of sectioned off 'safe' area in the home?
