Super Yucky

I hate to mention this because it is so uncharacteristic of the almost completely flawless Frenchie, but............ Does anyone else have a problem with their Frenchie and copraphagia (Poo eating)? Our pup will - ewwww - eat poo. What to do?? Any suggestions?

My Leo did that for a couple of months. Come to think of it our new puppy Milou is started to as well. Leo started and stopped out of the blue. We really just kept an eye on him during potty times and tell him a firm NO whenever he sniffed around his stuff. We are doing the same with Milou and she seemed to leave it alone for now. From what I was told alot of puppies do this because their poo smelled good to them. Just be patient, they will grow out of it.

Thanks for the reply - I am really glad to hear that Doolie might grow out of this habit - I find it hard to be delighted by kisses from a potty-mouth.

Olivia eats poop! I have been told it was a side effect of her being on Potassium Bromide for her seizures, but she has been off Bromide for years and still loves the poo. She does not discriminate either; She eats her poo, other dogs' poo, cat poo, deer poo, and attempted to eat horse poo. She is a filthy beast, but I love her just the same. I have tried the anti-coprophagia pills but they didnt work for her. Meat tenderizer in the food is also supposed to deter them from munching the poop. You have to give it to all the animals in the house whose poo get eaten though, which is a pain.

Thanks for the reply - it's always good to hear that ones demented beastie is not the only one. I also heard that if you can keep them from the poo for about 10 days straight - they will lose their taste for it. We have come close, but Doolie (sometimes now known as Stoolie) has always managed to foil us so far - we'll keep trying!

Do you only have the one dog? I ask because I am going to suggest meat tenderizer, It easy to give just but in the dogs food. Has to be all the dogs which can be hard for Freinchies with food alleriges. I'm not sure how it works but it works.

Thanks! I'm going to try it. We only have one dog - two cats, but Doolie hasn't shown much interest in cat poo so far.
