Neutering - Pros and Cons?

I need some feedback on neutering. We have a 8-month-old male Frenchie. We can't decide whether or not to neuter him. We only let him out on a leash so he can't roam. We want him to grow to full male stature... Does anyone have any info that isn't part of an agenda. We are extremely responsible pet owners so no worry about unwanted pregnancies, etc.

We're neutering ours.. For one, it's in our contract so we have to.. but even if it wasn't, we still would. It's just one less thing to worry about-- your boy getting himself into some trouble. I say, wait until a year to do it if you are concerned about his growth. :)

Most Frenchie males cannot actually mount a female properly and therefore would not be able to impregnate anyway. Usually with Frenchies, atrificial insemination has to be done. The bigger concern for not neutering is the increase for testicular cancer and other health issues that can arise when male dogs are not neutered. Some males who are not neutered may also get increasingly aggressive with age. My boyfriend and I are dealing with this same issue, worrying about our Swagger growing into his full male stature. We are also thinking about waiting a year for him to be neutered but have not made a decision yet.

I got my boy Bruno neutered, and honestly I am very happy with my decision. He doesn't hump, he doesn't have any kind of sexual tendencies and I am happy about that and I think he's happy too cause he has no idea what he's missing. (my sister bully is a humper) I also think that I don't know what kind of health issues Bruno may have down the road. I would not want to mate him, and then it turns out that he would pass on some bad genetics. The French Bulldog has so many health issues - and irresponsible breading is the cause. I would have liked to have his sperm frozen before we neutered him, then waited a decade and see if he has an allergic reactions or health issues - then based on that, I would think about artificial insemination to a scanned female. I volunteer with the French Bulldog Rescue Network and it breaks my heart to see so many sickly Frenchies from pup mills/backyard breeders being bread and passing along all their genetic defects. Responsible breeding is the key to safe guarding this amazing bread.
